Ocean vs air: how long vial orders really take to a US door

When we say “about 15 days production” on a straightforward MOQ run, that clock starts after deposit and artwork freeze — not after the first WhatsApp hello. Add document prep and slotting into the shipping week, and the factory date on a PI is only half the story.

Ocean to a US port, then clearance and domestic trucking, often lands in the mid-to-high 20s of days for the logistics piece when schedules behave. Put production and logistics together and many door-to-door plans sit around six to seven weeks. Port congestion, missed vessels, or a label revision on day 12 will stretch that. We’d rather say the ugly version up front.

Air helps when a buyer is covering a gap or validating a new SKU at higher freight cost. It’s not a permanent substitute for ocean on six-figure monthly volumes unless the margin math says otherwise. Samples, again, are usually courier — different animal from either bulk mode.
